Frequently asked questions

You’ve got questions. I've got answers.

How long do I have access to the course?

It's yours to keep: there is no end date.

When does it start?

ALL the lessons are available as soon as you join.

You can access the lessons any time you want, whenever it suits you, wherever you are in the world.

What will I need?

You'll need:

  • A piece of sturdy fabric to make your book cover(s): this could be a piece of embroidery, some patchwork, an off-cut from another project - or just a piece of fabric.
  • Fabric for the lining
  • Your usual sewing equipment
  • All-purpose machine threads in colours to suit
  • Threads, beads, buttons and ribbons for closures, bookmarks, braids and cords are all optional
  • To make your own embroidered backgrounds, you'll need some embroidery stabiliser, and a base fabric: cotton, linen, even velvet, and a selection of lightweight fabric scraps

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes! If you can use a sewing machine, it's for you.

This isn't a machine embroidery course, it's a "constructing book jackets with a sewing machine" course - that said, the bonus sections will teach you some very useful machine embroidery skills.

What do I do if I get stuck?

First, there's no such thing as a silly question! I'm here to help.

There's a chat box on every page in the course - ping me a message, and I'll reply as soon as I'm next online. You can also leave a comment (and even upload a photo) or email me.

You can also ask your question in the private Facebook group - and others may be able to help you out or give you suggestions to try.

What if I'm unhappy with my purchase?

Once you've signed up, I'm not able to give refunds. But if you're really unhappy with the course please email me.
